The work of the Rural Regeneration Zone is outlined in the Zone Implementation Plan (ZIP) which identifies four strategic objectives as the focus of investment. Within each of these objectives, activity is taking place to deliver against the targets.
The Zone is investing in activity which supports diversification of the economy towards higher waged, knowledge intensive employment.
Working alongside the Regional Skills Partnership, the Zone is committed to meeting the skills needs of employers are paramount.
The Zone has natural strengths in environmental technologies and green businesses which are being built on through a number of schemes.
One of the primary ways of improving access to services is through the creation of a network of ‘multi-use facilities’.
